4th – 6th grade: Our 2nd Winter Activity
Day is Monday, January 23, 2017. Money is due tomorrow, January 19, 2017.
Sack lunches: children may bring their own, or can order in
advance from the cafeteria through their teacher. Please remind
children to dress for outside activity. Students attending Siskin should
also be prepared for inside activity at the new recreation center.

Hopefully, you remember that we have NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Friday,
January 13, 2017, nor Monday, January 16, 2017.
teachers will be engaged in professional learning! In the morning,
teachers will be working with the NCSU reading coach regarding 3 reading opportunities every day, the release of
responsibility model, structure of mini-lessons, and the different types of
conferences to have with students, small group instruction and flexible ways to
group students, assessment and using assessment to inform instruction. In the
afternoon, all teachers will focus on learning more about and planning for
Student Led Conferences. In addition, specialists will be engaging in a book study about how to
help children develop growth mindsets in the classroom ...

I hope the holidays were special for you and your family.
Happy New Year!
We were pleased to welcome your children back to school for the
new year, and have challenged each classroom to earn 5 Mega Paws in the month
of January. ROAR!
Here’s what we have going on next week at school:
1. Grades 4-6 have their first Winter
Activity Day on Monday, January 9 , 2017. A bag lunch consisting of
ham sandwich will be available from the kitchen. Please make sure your child lets his/her
teacher know if a bag lunch from school is needed. Otherwise,
children should bring a lunch from home. Remember that children will be
