  • Monday, February 20, 2017 We have a lot going on in the coming weeks at DES!   Wednesday, February 22, 2017 @ 7:00 pm:  All preK- 6 parents are invited to get involved in our first organizational meeting of an active parent volunteer group!  An agenda is attached for the meeting in our library.   Feb. 27 – March 7, 2017:  We have no school next week and into the first week of March. VACATION!   Monday, March 6, 2017:  Our Town Meeting is at 7:00 pm in our gym.  You can pick up reports at our school this week.  Come participate in our local democracy!   Tuesday, March 7, 2017:  The Australian ballot vote for our school and town.  GO VOTE!   Wednesday, March 8, 2017:  Back to ...

  • February 9, 2017 Happy Snowy, Cold Thursday!  Here are some reminders:   PreK – 6: No school tomorrow, Friday February 10: Teachers will be engaged in professional learning with other teachers at NCSU.   K-6:  Monday is the 100th day of school!     Tuesday is Valentines Day.  Each classroom celebrates a bit differently, so be sure to pay attention to communication the teachers send home.   Gr. 4:  NAEP testing has been re-scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 16.  Please help by making sure your  4th grader gets plenty of rest and eats a healthy breakfast!  Scores are collected to compare nation and world wide.   NCSU is offering a parent education series.  Attached, you will find two documents that explain the what, when, where, why, and how of ...

  • January 30, 2017 It is supposed to be cold this week, so please make sure your child has gloves and hats for recess.  The wind is quite strong and whips across our playground, increasing the chill.  Of course, we do not go outside if temps are below zero, and we do look at the wind chill daily prior to recess.   Our February News Brief includes annual reports from the Board President and myself.  These are also included in the Town Report that will be published for Town Meeting.   Dates to Remember: February 2 - Gr. 4 – 6  $$ due for Winter Activity Day; ordering deadline for sack lunch from kitchen, February 3 - Flannel Friday, February 6 - Gr. 4 - 6 Winter Activity Day, sack lunches only ...
