Remember before winter break when we were lamenting the lack of winter weather?  Well, it’s two weeks into the new year, and we have had three days of indoor recess already, necessitated by wind chills.  And more weather headed our way this weekend.

Please remember that children have no school on Friday this week, January 15, 2016.  Teachers will be engaged in professional learning about our new recycling program to start in February, learning targets in math and reading, and Universal Design for Learning.

There is also no school on Monday, January 18, 2016 for MLK Day.

Please make sure your children come to school with appropriate outdoor dress for winter weather.  We go outside for recess unless the temperature with wind chill is below 0 degrees.  Recently, we have had children with no coats, gloves or hats.  We do get pretty strong winds whipping across our playground, so a scarf or something to cover cheeks is a good idea as well.  When we notice children are missing these items, we do have a supply of extras to provide for them for recess.
