We’ve had a busy week this week with Halloween and a full week of school!

A highlight of the week was our Halloween festivities.  Check out the pics and videos on our Facebook page.  https://www.facebook.com/destigersvt/

Thanks for keeping the candy at home.  On an unfortunate note, I am sure you’ve heard the news with advice to check candy.  I’ve heard there has been a specific issue in Derby Line.

I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Gentry wrote a grant, and Walmart has granted us $ 1,000.00 to develop an outdoor classroom space and equipment for our garden!  This allows us to maximize our Farm to School grant money for more classroom opportunities.

Our Fuel Up days at the Irving earned us $ 500.00 to use towards our Farm to School, Tiger Paw Pride, Project Based Learning and Winter Activities Program.  We will have more Fuel Up days in the future.

We are so lucky to receive these generous donations and grants.  The money supplements our instructional program and allows us to provide dynamic opportunities for our children – without increasing our budget and raising taxes!

6th graders are working hard with Ms. Chambers, building our Gaga Ball Pit on the playground.  It is for grades 3 – 6, and should be open next week.   In the spring, we have plans for a smaller pit to be built for grades K- 2.  Look for pics soon!

We have a new teacher on staff.  Welcome to Mr. Todd Cubit, who has been hired to teach part time music, helping Ms. Chambers teach band and chorus.

Just a reminder that we do not have school next Friday, November 11, as it is Veteran’s Day.  All schools in NCSU are closed.
