Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
On Monday, January 20th, our school will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This day is an opportunity to honor Dr. King’s legacy of equality, justice, and service.

To help families continue the conversation at home, consider these suggestions:
  • Read Together: Share a story like "Martin’s Big Words" by Doreen Rappaport or "A Sweet Smell of Roses" by Angela Johnson.
  • Community Service: Participate in a local service project or spend time helping a neighbor. Even small acts of kindness embody Dr. King’s vision.
  • Family Reflection: Talk as a family about what fairness and kindness mean and ways to make a difference in your community.
Inauguration Day
On Monday, January 20th, while students are home for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, our nation will also observe the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States. This presents a wonderful opportunity for families to engage in fun and educational activities together:
  • Host a Mini Election: Let your children vote on family activities, such as choosing a movie or a special meal. This simple exercise teaches decision-making and highlights the importance of every voice.
  • Watch the Inauguration Together: If appropriate, consider watching parts of the inauguration ceremony with your children. Discuss the significance of the event and the peaceful transition of power.
  • Create Leadership Art: Encourage your child to draw or write about what leadership means to them and how they can be leaders in their own communities.
Cold Weather Is Back
Winter has returned in full force, and we want to ensure students stay warm and safe during this chilly season. Please remember hats, mittens, boots, and warm coats are essential for recess and arrival/dismissal times. If your child needs assistance with winter gear, please let us know.

Delayed Starts and Closures: Keep an eye on ParentSquare for any weather-related updates.
