Welcome Back!

We hope everyone had a restful and joyful April Break! As we jump into the busy and exciting month of May, we're reminding students (and ourselves!) to finish strong by practicing our school-wide expectations: being Respectful, On Task, Always Safe, and Responsible. ROARing into May has never looked better!

ROAR Reminder: Building Strong Habits for Life

This spring, we’re continuing to focus on the four core behaviors that make our school community a wonderful place to learn and grow:

Respect – Listening when others are speaking, using kind words, and taking care of school property.
➔ At home: Model respectful communication by practicing "listening turns" at dinner or during car rides. Praise respectful moments when you see them!

On Task – Following directions, staying focused during lessons, and using time wisely.
➔ At home: Set up short, focused "work times" for homework or chores, followed by a quick brain break or reward to reinforce the habit.

Always Safe – Making choices that protect yourself and others, like walking in hallways, keeping hands to yourself, and using equipment properly.
➔ At home: Talk about "safety checks" — for example, "Before we leave for the park, what safety rules do we need to remember?"

Responsible – Owning your actions, completing work, and helping when needed.
➔ At home: Give your child a small leadership role — like packing their own backpack or helping to plan a family outing — to practice responsibility in a real way.

Springtime Smiles: Celebrating Growth

Spring is in full bloom — and so are our students! It’s the perfect time to reflect on how far they’ve come this year, in big and small ways:

🌼 Growth Garden 🌼
  • Draw a big flower or garden on a sheet of paper.
  • On each petal, leaf, or blade of grass, write something your child has grown in this year — a new skill, a good habit, a proud moment, or a way they've shown ROAR behavior!
  • Keep it simple and colorful — words, drawings, or stickers work great!
  • Hang it on the fridge or a bedroom door to remind your Tiger how much they've blossomed this year.
Prompts for Petals/Leaves:
  • "I stayed on task by ________."
  • "I showed respect when I ________."
  • "I was responsible when I ________."
  • "I stayed safe by ________."
  • "I'm proud that I can now ________."

Add a special “Sunshine” at the top with a family member’s note about why they’re proud of their Tiger this year. ☀️

Teacher Appreciation Week: May 5-9

Our teachers make magic happen every day — often with just a dry-erase marker and a smile!
Help us celebrate them during Teacher Appreciation Week with simple acts of kindness: a thank-you note, a handmade card, or a kind email can make a teacher’s day.

Student Placement for Next Year

We are beginning the careful process of creating class lists for next year! Our goal is to build balanced classrooms where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Families are welcome to share input about their child's learning needs using the form linked below. Please note that we do not accept specific teacher requests. Your insights are valuable and help us make thoughtful placement decisions!

Please submit your input by Thursday, May 9.
