A Big Thanks to Sergeant Garces!

We loved having Sergeant Garces stop by for lunch this week! It’s always great when our students get to see the friendly faces who help keep our community safe. He fit right in at the lunch tables—laughing with students, trading stories, and even getting a few lunchroom jokes thrown his way. Thanks, Deputy Garces, for being part of our school family!

Tiger Spotlight

This week’s spotlight shines on two incredible members of our Tiger Team.
betzi and dog

This week we’re shining the spotlight on Betzi Sheperd, band teacher

This week we’re shining the spotlight on Ms. Sheperd, who you might know as our band teacher but did you know...
  • Her go-to comfort food is ice cream
  • The first concert she ever attended? Phish, back when their audience fit in the Flynn Theater.
  • When she's not teaching, you might find her on a beach or kayak on any of our VT lakes
  • If teaching hadn’t called her name, she might be a librarian
  • One more fun fact: She has a dog named Simon who was born deaf. He is super smart. We use DDSL - Deaf Dog Sign Language.
We're excited for the positive energy and care she brings to her classroom everyday!

This week we’re celebrating Libby Totten, preschool teacher

This week we’re shining the spotlight on Ms. Libby who you might know as one of our preschool teachers but did you know…
  • If she could only eat one food forever, it would be Açaí bowl
  • Right now she's into The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
  • A hidden talent you might not guess? Juggling!
  • If she wasn't working at DES, you’d probably find her working as a professional equestrian (show jumping)
  • A song she'll never skip is You Can Call Me Al
  • And a fun fact about her? Her birthday is Christmas Day!
We’re lucky to have her supporting our Tigers with this essential role!

ROAR Reminder

Conference Tips: 10/29-10/31
Conferences are a great chance to team up for your child’s success! A few quick tips to make the most of your time:
  • Come curious: Bring questions or topics you’d like to discuss.
  • Share insight: You know your child best—tell us what motivates or challenges them.
  • Partner up: Together, we’ll celebrate growth and plan next steps.
We look forward to these conversations and appreciate the strong home-school connection that helps our Tigers thrive!

Tigertastic Tips

No tricks, just tips!
A few reminders to help make the night fun and stress-free: plan ahead, dress for the weather, and keep kids visible with glow sticks or flashlights. Make sure everyone eats a good dinner before heading out, check candy before digging in, and wrap up when little ghosts and goblins start to fade. Most of all—soak up the fun, share smiles, and model those “thank yous” at every door!
