Safety First: Options-Based Drill

Thank you to our students and staff for a successful options-based drill! We also appreciated having local law enforcement present as we practiced our safety procedures. These drills are an important part of being prepared, and everyone did a great job. Thanks for taking it seriously and working together!

Miles and smiles!

A little rain wasn’t going to stop us! Our Cornfield Mile was a success, on-and-off showers and all. Thank you to our students and staff for rolling with the weather and making it a fun event. Way to go, Tigers!

A Quick Reminder: Vape-Free Campus

A quick reminder to all families and visitors that vaping is not permitted anywhere on school grounds. Please be mindful of this expectation when visiting DES. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.

Brrr… Bundle Up, Tigers!

The chilly weather is coming, and if you know our playground, you know the wind likes to make an appearance! Please make sure your child comes to school with a warm coat, and consider hats and gloves as temperatures drop. We want our Tigers to get outside and enjoy some fresh air without turning into little ice cubes!

The ROAR Report

Good Sports, Great Tigers

Big events like the Cornfield Mile are a great chance to practice being a good sport! Whether your child was running, cheering on friends, or helping things go smoothly, these moments count.

This week, ask your Tiger: “Did you see someone being a good sport? What did they do?”

Sometimes the best part of an event isn't crossing the finish line. It's how we treat each other along the way.

The Takeaway

Let Them Struggle a Little

It's tempting to jump in when your child is frustrated, whether it's homework, a tricky zipper, or a disagreement with a sibling. Before stepping in, try giving them a little time to work it out. You can offer encouragement without taking over: “That looks tricky. What's one thing you could try?” Building independence takes practice, and a little productive struggle can go a long way!
