Mobile Mug: A Treat in More Ways Than One

On Friday we hosted NCUHS Mobile Mug. Sure, the coffee was delicious and the baked goods don’t hurt, but the real treat? Getting to see our former students out in the world, growing up, finding their way, and coming back to visit. Mobile Mug is a sweet reminder that the work we do here reaches far beyond these walls. The coffee is good, but the full-circle moments? Those are the best part.

Halloween Costumes on Thursday

Costumes are welcome on Thursday! A few friendly reminders to keep the day fun and comfortable for everyone:
- Costumes should be school-appropriate and allow students to move, learn, and participate comfortably.
- Please leave toy weapons, masks that cover the entire face, and other potentially unsafe accessories at home.
- Save the extra-large props and anything that could get in the way for another time!

We’ll keep our regular school routines and schedule, with a little Halloween spirit mixed in. Remember, Thursday is an early release day!

PACT Trunk or Treat

Get ready for some Halloween fun! Derby PACT is hosting its Trunk or Treat on Friday. It’s a great chance to celebrate with our school community and enjoy some festive fun together. We hope to see lots of Tigers there!

The ROAR Report

Trick-or-Treating with Tiger Pride!
Halloween is a perfect opportunity to practice our ROAR expectations outside of school, too!
- Respect: Use kind words and remember your manners. A simple “please” and “thank you” go a long way!
- On Task: Stay with your grown-up and follow the plan for your trick-or-treating adventure.
- Always Safe: Use sidewalks when available, look both ways, and make sure costumes don’t block your vision.
- Responsible: Take only what’s offered, wait your turn, and help younger trick-or-treaters when you can.

Have fun, stay safe, and show off those Tiger-sized manners! Let’s ROAR our way through Halloween!

The Takeaway

Making the Most of Parent-Teacher Conferences
Your first parent-teacher conference of the year is a great opportunity to get a clearer picture of how your child is settling in, what’s going well, and where they might need a little extra support.

A few tips to make the most of your time together:
- Ask what’s going well: What strengths is your child showing in the classroom?
- Get curious: How are things going academically, socially, and emotionally?
- Share your perspective: What are you noticing at home? Is there anything that might help the teacher better understand your child?
- Choose a next step: What’s one thing you can work on together to support your child?

Remember, conferences are a conversation, not a report card! We’re all on the same team, working to help your child thrive.
